SWAT Youth Recognize CVS/pharmacy in Support of their Tobacco-Free Initiative

As of September 3rd, CVS/pharmacy stopped the sale of tobacco products in its more than 7,600 stores nationwide. In support of this, the local Collier County Students Working Against Tobacco (SWAT) Chapter has decided to show their appreciation by recognizing CVS/pharmacy for their efforts in reducing the harmful effects of tobacco and helping people on their path to better health. SWAT members have chosen to recognize CVS/pharmacy in honor of "The Great American Smoke Out" on November 20th, a national observance day which encourages smokers to use the date to make a plan to quit smoking.

Who:  CVS/pharmacyTM, Collier County Students Working Against Tobacco (SWAT), Tobacco Free Collier, Florida Department of Health in Collier County.

What: Tobacco Free Collier and SWAT youth are honoring CVS/pharmacy for their efforts to stop the sale of tobacco products. SWAT will be presenting CVS/pharmacy with a framed certificate of recognition and a banner signed by SWAT and community members to display at the local CVS/pharmacy on Davis Blvd.

When: Thursday, November 20th 2014 at 4:00p.m.

Why: SWAT youth are dedicated to reducing the impact of tobacco use among friends, family, and the local community. By removing tobacco products from their shelves, CVS/pharmacy has committed to the improved health of their customers here in Collier County and across the nation. The Collier County SWAT Chapter would like to publicly commend CVS for their recent efforts to facilitate a healthy and tobacco-free Collier County.

The Tobacco Free Collier Partnership of Collier County is comprised of agencies representing many different sectors of the community including hospitals, nonprofit organizations, governmental agencies, medical clinics, educational institutions, and community leadership groups committed to establishing a Tobacco-Free Collier County.
