Every 9½ minutes, someone in the United States is infected with HIV. Because of this alarming statistic, on this coming World AIDS Day, December 1st, the Florida Department of Health-Collier is encouraging everyone to take a FREE HIV test. An estimated 56,300 Americans each year are newly infected with HIV, the virus that causes AIDS. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) data indicates that there are now over 1.7 million Americans living with HIV, approximately 100,000 people living with HIV in Florida and at least 25 percent of those individuals do not even know that they are HIV-positive. This is why the CDC recommends that everyone between the ages of 14 and 64 take an HIV test at least once a year.

HIV/AIDS has impacted Collier County for 30 years now, and we have witnessed the infections of over 1,600 of our residents.

For this reason, the HIV/AIDS Network of Collier County (HANCC) sponsors the following FREE events celebrating World AIDS Day from December 1st through December 5th. All of the sites will be offering Rapid HIV testing with same day results. Appointments are not necessary.
