The Florida Department of Health in Collier County Disaster Preparedness Program has been developed to prepare for and mitigate community vulnerabilities of potential public health emergencies. Through planning efforts and coordination with local, regional and state agencies, we strive to protect Collier County residents and visitors from the effects of a man-made or naturally occurring public health hazard.
The preparedness programs include the Residential Enclave Disaster Plan (RED), the Faith Based Organization (FBO) Initiative, and Business/Healthcare Provider/Personal Protection components, and local Special Needs Shelter operations.
Special Needs Registry
Special needs shelters are for those with disabilities or who require medical care that exceeds basic first aid. Preregistration is important so emergency responders can ensure space is reserved for those with the greatest need.
